Our
Coven, "The Circle of Heka" previously "The Circle
de Lamiis", (Circle of Witches) and originally named Coven
of Boskednon, (Coven of the Ancient Ones), The Coven and name "Boskednon"
had been going for well over twenty five years. This change in name
was made to reflect the change in the structure of the Coven. On
the 5th of September 2004 in an ancient ritual of transferance,
(Lady) Tamara handed over the running of the Coven and the running
of the Church of Wicca to Lady Amaris. Her role in the coven is
now one of Crone and Mentor. The word Heka is the Egyptian word
for majik. Translating as "Words of Power".
The
Circle of Heka is truely a beautiful Majical Circle of Sisters and
Brothers, who communicate and mix with each other, who do not hide
their feelings and they are open and honest and are genuine in their
pursuit of their Pagan Spirituality. Each member I might add is
very different and each brings to the Circle their own portion of
knowledge and individuality which makes our Coven very eclectic.
Each Sister and Brother has their own truth, and this makes our
circle harmonious because of the differences.
We
incorporate the many Traditions of Witchcraft into out circle and
try to be open minded about what we are doing, especially as Occultists
of an old craft. We are hoping through much inner work within ourselves
to work with Great Spirit - the Goddess and God, on all their levels
of being.
We
are all trying very hard to be Enviromentalists and Ecologists,
we try this as our number on interest to help Mother Earth. What
brings us together is the need to tune into Nature and listen in
the stillness to the winds. to listen to what the Elements and their
Elementals teach us. In our circle each member is chosen because
of their Element to be a Warden of the Circle, this makes them in
charge of their particular section of the circle.
Most
in the Circle of Heka, are studying Herbalism, Majik, Psychic development,
Ceremonial Ritual, The Astral Plane and much meditation. Because
of being eclectic, the workings of our Circle shift from year to
year, as we study different techniques and Paths to help further our knowledge and understanding of deity.
We
work within a structure of beliefs that is similar to what was created
for The Church of Wicca, but now a little different. Our form of
training is as follows:
1)
The Path of the Seeker
This
is the first formal training of the Seeker, and goes for a period
of twelve months. It covers all areas of interest to the would-be-witch.
This takes the form of an Outer Court and can be done in-house with
training at our Covenstead, or by Correspondence Course. It is quite
in-depth and covers many areas of interest including;
Ancient History History of Witchcraft History
of Wicca Meditation the Chakra's Majik of colour
and candles Different Pantheons The Goddess
The Horned God Herbalism Spells The Tools of
a Witch the Majik Circle Festivals Full and
New Moons The Laws of the Craft Creative Visualization
the Elements & Elementals The Burning Times
Rituals Majik Initiations the Tarot
Dreams Witch verses Wiccan the Runes Songs
and Dances Blessing Ritual Being Prepared Healing
2)
The Cowen
This
person has now been accepted by the Coven and is formally in training
with them, they have done this by taking the next step and being
Wiccaned, which is a Rite of Dedication. this formal training is
again for another year. It not only touches on the above subjects
again but goes into them in a more deep and precise manner. This
helps the Cowan to bring out their natural ability, in preparing
to be a Witch. Where the First level of Theory this is the level
of Practice. The Responsibility for Oneself!
3)
The Level of Witch
At
this level they gained this through their insight in being able
to perceive or receive the touch of the Goddess, they have not only
been accepted abate the Coven but they themselves have accepted
the Coven as their Spiritual Family. At this level they are welcomed
into the Coven with all the privileges and joys of the Circle. From
here they are taught the deeper significance of the abilities of
the Witch. They are now in training for the Priesthood which will
take them another two years of in-depth training and dedication.
The Responsibility for the Coven and their Oath and the Level of
La Luna!
4)
The Level of Priest or Priestess
Now
at this stage the dedicated and devout Witch has been involved with
the Coven for a period of 4 years, and if they desire to advance
to the Priesthood. This is where they work with the deeper meanings
of the Craft and the Spiritual side becomes more important as they
now are able to take more responsibility and teach the new Seekers
and Witches. At this stage they become an Elder of the Coven and
can work their spirituality on the Outer Community as a whole, such
as a Chaplain, Marriage Celebrant, etc. At this stage they are responsible
for all the Wiccan/Pagan community and this is the Level of Sol.
5)
The Level of High Priest or High Priestess
After
at least another year, they are then given the responsibility to
run the existing Coven under guidance from the original HPs or HP,
if they do this with love and compassion and tolerance, they are
then invited to go and form their own Coven. This is still under
the guidance of the Mother Coven, and we still come together at
the main festivals. It is the Level of Astrum the level of total
harmony!
The
Level of Crone
When a High Priestess or High Priest who has retired from the honored
position, and given it over to a younger person, this is an honorable
way to hand over the coven. This person is now honored and respected
and called a Crone. She or He usually remains to help guide and
teach the younger members of the group. The position of Crone and
Elder are totally different and mean different things. A Crone,
as stated is a retired High Priest or High Priestess who has gained
their knowledge through years as a trained Witch through each and
every stage.
The
Level of Elder
An
Elder is a person of the Priesthood who because of age will not
continue through the higher ranks into the High Priesthood. But
because of their years of age they are respected as such, and offered
a position of trust as an Elder and guide to all Circle members.
A Hag is similar that they too, are respected because of their years
of age, they too, are only at a level of Priesthood or under, and
respected through their years on this Earth.© |
