The Majik Cords.

The Majik Cords are a wonderful addition, and again only relatively new to Witchcraft, but I might add very affective. they are traditionally nine feet each in length, with no knots whatsoever on them. they are individually coloured white, red and blue. Each colour represents the different stages of life in a woman.

White - Virgin

Red - Mother

Blue - Crone

The power of the cords are representative of these aspects of the Goddess and their appropriate powers. the white cord is symbolic of innecence and purity, also spirituality, it is used in all heallings, The Red Cord is symbolic of life, love, birth, power, strength, grounding and increase of health, it is also used for binding people and for relationships. The Blue Cord is symbolic of psychic energy, Majik, death, wisdom, knowledge, ancestry and the Spirit world and this is used for strong banishing Majik. the three Majik Cords are used in so many ways that it is impossible to mention them all here. They are mainly used for healing and for binding, so I will give you a couple of ways that they can be used Majikally.

for a Binding ritual you need to firstly make a Fith-fath, (a poppet), now this can be either out of wax, a real poppet made with stuffing, or even something that is representative of the person or objuct that you are binding. Give the doll life by breathing into it, and consecrating it with the name of the person or object by saying:

"As god breathed life into me, so to do I now breathe life into....,

may the powers being of air, as you are this doll, and this doll is you,

may the two be one, so be it done!"

You then consecrate the poppet with the elemental chant, and then as you wrap the red cord around them you say:

"By the powers of life and love do I bind thee,

I bind you that you do no harm,

I bind you that you do no harm,

and as I do will, so mote it be!"

The person is now bound for whatever reason you declared, and they are bound until you yourself free them, which should be by our law, in one year and a day. If they have not learnt their lesson by then you may then bind them for good. Just remember the law of threefold return, be careful what you ask for you might just get it. Also remember not to harm anyone or anything, if you are binding someone or something then it must be to stop them from harming themselves and others. This is very important because if not it will come back to you threefold, and with a vengeance.

Now we have mentioned the usage of the Three Majik Cords, but one of the most inportant one is what we call the Singulum, or Witches Girdle. this too is nine feet in length, and is worn representing the appropriate rank and level in modern Wicca to where you are at.

Seekers - Wear an amber Singulum, Showing that they are grounded before their journey. this cord has no knots in it, and is the lenght of the person.

Cowens - Wear a green Singulum, showing that they must focus on nature and what nature is revealing to them. This cord is nine feet long with no knots in it.

Witches - wear a white Singulum, which is nine feet long and has at appropriate spaces 8 knots tied into it representing the eight Paths of Enlightenment, also called the Ladder of the Goddess.

Red - this is worn by all Priestesses as a magnetic balance to the Priests. It has several knots which represent the level of training. It too is your length.

White, Red, Blue - With these three cords interwoven, it represents that you are of the High Priesthood, and that you should be respected accordingly, and treated as a representative of the Goddess and God. It means that you are a third Degree, when you add a silver cord to the three it represents that you have your own coven and are the High Priestess, when you add a gold cord it represents that you have your own coven an am a High Priest.

Black - When a black cord is worn, it is usually by the High Priestess or High Priest who has retired from the honored position, and biven it over to a younger person, this is an honorable way to hand over the coven. This person is now honored and respected and called a Crone. She or He usually remains to help guide and teach the younger members of the group. The position of Crone and Elder are totally different and mean different things. A Crone, as stated is a retired High Priest or High Priestess who has gained their knowledge through years as a trained Witch through each and every stage.

An Elder is a person of the Priesthood who because of age will not continue through the higher ranks into the High Priesthood. But because of their years of age they are respected as such, and offered a position of trust as an Elder and guide to all Circle members. A Hag is similar that they too, are respected because of their years of age, they too, are only at a level of Priesthood or under, and respected through their years on this Earth.

The actual Singulum of the Witch also measures the Majik Circle, each knot appropriately placed measures different measurements for the Majik Corcle whether it is for one person, two, three, etc or a whole coven. But this we will cover at a later date, maybe!©
